Douglas Ducks passing is a great loss to the flyfishing community. His artistry and true understanding of the bamboo rod and its function were unique and very much appreciated by every owner of a D.J. Duck bamboo rod. The term reproductionist trivialized, and could never begin to describe the true essence of his work.
Douglas got it. He just got it. He understood what "it" was, and when you cast his rods you got it ! His
personality was all Texas, and spirited debates were the norm. He was a cowboy in a world of shepherds, and I'll miss him.
I am honored to have been able to share his craft with my customers, and
his artisty will continue to walk the streams of SW Wisconsin til the day this fisherman makes his last cast.
